Hello and welcome to eaton hypnotherapy. Here is a little bit about my background.
I set up eaton hypnotherapy after a 20 year career in human resources. During my career I've been fortunate enough to work with business leaders, groups and individuals to explore areas of development and identify how to achieve those goals. I'm also privileged to work with individuals who have been struggling with their personal wellbeing to help and support them, for some at the most difficult time in their lives. These experiences have given me an insight into the help and support available for people struggling and my interest increased further after experiencing difficulties first hand.
I decided to research alternative therapies which could help me and potentially others and discovered solution focused hypnotherapy. This therapy combines the latest research on how the brain works with simple techniques that help people make significant changes in their lives. I could see the real benefits this gave me and could bring to so many people – combining talking therapies with relaxing hypnosis...

About Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution focused hypnotherapy (SFH) focuses on the future and positive solutions using modern techniques that research has shown to be extremely effective. It is a gentle combination of Psychotherapy, which uses elements of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and relaxing, pleasant hypnosis.
Psychotherapy is the talking part, where you’re encouraged to focus on the positive aspects of your life, acknowledging where you are now, identify what your goal is and working together to bring about positive changes.

Although psychotherapy in itself is highly beneficial Solution Focused Hypnotherapy enhances its effect by combining it with hypnosis which enables access to the subconscious mind to make the changes you are seeking – using the goals that you set yourself.
Sessions are a collaborative therapeutic alliance where I will work with you to help you to identify and focus on the changes you want to achieve. SFH techniques are supported by Neuroscientific research into how the brain works and explains why you react in the ways that you do, how you can recognise those situations and how the brain can rewire itself (Neuroplasticity) enabling you to take back control of your life and make significant, positive changes towards the future you want in a relatively short time frame.
What happens during a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session?
Each hypnotherapy session has two parts to it, the talking part (psychotherapy) and the hypnosis part.
In the first part of each session we will talk about ‘what’s been good’ in the previous week. I will be encouraging you to express yourself positively, to think in a more positive way, to use more positive language and start to encourage a new thought process – focusing on solutions rather than problems. I will also explain how the brain works in more detail that will unlock a deeper understanding, to enable you to make positive changes and add coping mechanisms to your ‘toolbox’.
In the second part of the session you will imagine your preferred future and you will identify a small change that will help you move towards that goal you desire. I’ll then guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis/ trance which is a pleasant deep state of focused attention, a daydream like state which you can come out of whenever you wish. Hypnosis/ trance provides access to your subconscious mind where the brain is more responsive to suggestion and has the ability to consolidate what we’ve discussed and what I will be saying to you during trance. You may hear some, all or none of what I say, which is absolutely fine as the subconscious mind listens to and absorbs what it needs to. Your brain will be working hard during this part of the session processing everything. After hypnosis/trance many clients say that they feel heavy, drowsy or like they’re floating, these feelings are absolutely normal. Clients also say that they feel very relaxed which is wonderful.
